But today the world's tallest man, our hero Bao Xishun, has lost the title of, er, world's tallest man.

Despite carving out a career as a long, tall, gangly string of Chinese hope, he is now officially a nobody.

Instead a young Ukrainian vet has been declared the tallest person in the world by the Guiness Book of World Records.
Yeah, try saving yourself, Mr Nobody Leonid Stadnik, 36, who lives in a small poor village in northwestern Ukraine, is 2.57 meters (8 feet and 5.5 inches) tall.
Stadnik is more than 20 centimeters (8 inches) taller than the former title-holder/fallen hero Bao, who measures at a stumpy 2.36 meters (7 feet and 9 inches).
Stadnik's growth spurt started at age 14 after a brain operation apparently stimulated his pituitary gland.
He lives with his mother, Halyna, taking care of the family's house and garden.
